Location and facilities

Tayiba institute is situated in Dandenong at 9 Oldham Lane Dandenong, approximately 30 kilometres south east of central Melbourne. The Greater City of Dandenong is a vibrant, multicultural community with a population of approximately 132,000 people. IAA estimate that approximately 20,000 Muslims reside in this community.  The diversity of cultures is amazing in this part of Melbourne.

Travel by air              The nearest international airport is Tullamarine, Melbourne, approximately 50 kilometres distance from institute.  Arrangements can be made to meet international students at the airport and personally escort them to the institute  Via the CityLink (tollway), it is only a 35 minute drive.

Travel by Rail            The closest railway stations are Dandenong station and Yarraman station.  Dandenong station is a major station and located on the Pakenham – Cranbourne lines.

Social Life & Recreational Facilities

All full-time students of the Diploma course are expected to remain on the campus during term time except for supervised excursions.  The different backgrounds and cultures of the students who originate from many countries around the world provides a diversity and richness of culture from which all the students can benefit.

Students are encouraged to play Cricket, Soccer and other outdoor sports.  Whilst female students will be allowed to use the indoor facilities for sports and fitness. If there are enough female students, Karate tuition may be arranged and gym equipment may be purchased.

Islamic Library and Resource Centre

Tayiba institute has established a well-equipped Islamic Library, open to both the public and its students.  Collections include: VCDs, CDs, videos, audio cassettes, and books in several languages.  There are many classical books (collections of hadiths, tafseer of Quran and other special masterpieces) and contemporary books on various subject areas.

Weather

Melbourne usually enjoys mild weather, with occasional changes in conditions throughout the day.  Most of the year, temperatures vary between 15 – 26 degrees.  Summer (December-February), Autumn (March-May), Winter (June-August), Spring (September-November).  During Summer, there are a few hotter days – up to 40 degrees.
