| The
Islamic Association of Australia provides many services including
education for kids and Islamic lectures. We have also invited
renowned scholars from around the world for lecture tours.
The following is a summary of some of the services provided
by IAA.
:: Language Classes ::
We are running language classes for classical Arabic in our
Islamic Library. We are currently looking for teachers. If
you would like to volunteer, please contact
us for further details.
:: Public Education & Training Programs ::
To compliment the Islamic Library, IAA offers a series of
short-intensive courses on relevant Islamic topics. The participants
of these courses are awarded a "Certificate of Attendance"
at the end of each course. So far, the topics that we have
covered include:
•
The Basics of Islamic Law 1
• The Basics of Islamic Law 2
• Muslim Family Law
• Hadith Methodology
• Islamic Psychology
• Hajj and Umrah
• Zakat
• Tazkiyah
• Rememberance of Allah
• The Month of Ramadan and Lailat-ul-Qadr
:: Qur'anic Arabic & Islamic Studies for Children ::
Weekly Qur'an classes for children are held at the Islamic
Library. These classes take place on Saturdays from 11:00am
to 1:00pm. The timings are scheduled to coincide with
the opening times for the Islamic Library.
Ideally,
students should be aged 5-10 years. However, older children
are also welcome (older girls should be accompanied by a parent
or mahram).

A structured program has been designed for the teaching of
Qur'an recitation. Students are expected to practice during
the week in their own time. If students have their own Qur'an,
they should bring it to the class with them.
Parents, please make sure that the students are in the following
state when they attend the Qur’an class:
•
Have wudu
• Wear clean clothes, which cover the Aurat
• Girls must wear the Hijab properly (covering all
hair and neck area)
• Demonstrate good behavior and a willingness to learn
::

on different Islamic topics including: 'Eid-al-Adha, Qurbani
& Hajj', 'Ramadan' and 'The Family Structure of Islam'.
