like the Prophet, Love like the Prophet
(Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) |
Does
this ahadith not suit those Muslims that you know, who are on
non-speaking terms with their friends and family? The things
this man was saying to the Prophet (saw), seem so similar to
the conflicts faced within families and friends today. 'He'
keeps in touch, but they cut him off. 'He' treats them well,
but they abuse him. 'He' is patient and kind towards them, but
they insult him. So what advice did the Prophet Muhammad (saw),
give to this man?
He
said, "If you are as you say, then it is as if you are putting
hot dust in their mouths. Allah (swt) will continue to support
you, as long as you continue to do that."
What
does this mean? What is the Prophet (saw) telling us here? He
is saying that by you being nice to those people, they are being
punished at the same time and Allah (swt) is supporting you!
Meaning you are getting extra reward for it. So why would you
get angry with relatives who aren't nice to you? You should
thank them. Because you are getting extra rewards as long as
you continue to be nice to them.
The
Prophet Muhammad (saw) has said to us, "O people, just as you
regard this month, this day, this city (meaning Mecca) as sacred,
so regard the life and property of every Muslim, as a sacred
trust."
We
must love one another and promote love amongst each other. This
is what our Prophet has asked of us and this is what will make
our Lord happy. Insh'Allah.
The
Prophet (saw) was a very loving person. He loved his wives,
he loved his companions and as well as many other things, he
also loved all the little children.
Once,
Anas (ra) passed by some children and greeted them with salam.
He then said, "The Messenger of Allah (saw) used to do that."
Even
though the young people are required to give salam to the older
people, the Prophet (saw) and his companions, sometimes gave
salam to the children first.
The
amount of love the Prophet (saw) carried in his heart for children
is clearly identified in many hadiths.
Once,
the Prophet (saw) prayed, whilst carrying his grand daughter
on his shoulders. When he wanted to bow down for ruku, he put
her down, and when he stood up, he lifted her up again. Why
did the Prophet (saw) do this? Because he knows! He knows that
playing is a part of a child's life and it makes them happy.
And so he did not want to disturb his grand daughter whilst
she was playing on his back.
The
Prophet (saw) said, "He is not one of us, who does not show
compassion to our little ones and recognise the rights of our
elders."
Um
Khalid bint Khalid bin Said (ra) said, "I came to Allah's Apostle
(saw) along with my father, and I was wearing a yellow shirt.
Allah's Apostle (saw) said, "Sanah, Sanah!" (This means 'Nice,
nice!' in the Ethiopian language.)
Um
Khalid then started playing with the seal of Prophethood. Her
father, quietly but firmly told her not to do so. But the Prophet
(saw) said, "Leave her" and let Um Khalid, a little girl, play
with the seal of Prophethood. Subhanallah. |
