A BRIEF COMPARISON OF VARIOUS URDU AND ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS

Uniqueness does not imply that he has assigned novel meaning and explanation to the Holy Quran.

No one is allowed to assign novel meaning to the revealed words of Quran on his own accord.

In his translation, Hazrat Ahmad Raza has tried to assign such meaning to the words of Quran, that there may not occur any contradiction in the meaning of the words and verses of Quran.

The other thing, which he has kept in his mind while translating Holy Quran that such meaning, should be selected, that may not injure the status and dignity of Allah Almighty, and His Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

By this translation, Hazrat Ahmad Raza has illuminated the flame of true faith, love and respect of Allah Almighty and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in the hearts of Urdu knowing Muslims of the world. (Prof) shah Faridul Haque and Dr. A. Majeed A. Auolakh tried their best to translate the Urdu version of Hazrat Ahmad Raza into simple English conveying the thought given in Urdu translation. They worked very hard to choose such English words that should necessarily convey the same sense that has been expressed in Urdu version. While doing this important and scared job, they had many famous English translations before them.

The worth of this English translation can only be visualized by a comparative study of various other Urdu and English translations. A detailed comparison is not possible here; therefore they have chosen some important verses. The comparative study will enable a Muslim of true faith to appreciate, the depth of the knowledge of Hazrat Raza and his love, and close relation with Allah Almighty and his beloved Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Hazrat Ahmad Raza has interpreted the Quran in the light of authentic and current commentaries of Holy Quran. His interpretation raises the respect of the revealed Book dignity of the Prophets of Allah and prestige of humanity in the eyes of the readers.

Here We give a comparative translation of some important verses:

a. Did He not find you wandering and guide you? (An English translation published in Beirut Lebanon by Dar-Al Choura).

b. And He found thee wandering, and He gave the guidance. (Abdullah Yousaf Ali).

c. And found thee lost on the way and guided thee? (Muhammad As ad).

d. And He found thee wandering in search for him and guided thee unto himself. (Maulvi Sher Ali Qadiani)

e. And He found thee wandering, so He guided thee. (Abdul Majid Daryabadi).
